Homemade plant milk – easy and budget-friendly
Skip the cartons and make your own plant-based drink at home. It costs less than store-bought – and you know exactly what’s inside.

The large, tightly woven nut milk bag in sturdy cotton withstands frequent use. The fine mesh filters efficiently, ideal for nut/plant milks, fruit and vegetable juices – and it can double as a sprouting bag.

You’ll need:

  • 80-100 g nuts or rolled oats (lightly toast nuts for extra flavour)
  • 1 litre cold water
  • Optional: vanilla, a few dates or another sweetener


Method

  1. Add water and ingredients to a blender; blend until smooth.
  2. Place the nut milk bag over a bowl/jug and pour in the mixture in batches.
  3. Gently squeeze the bag until the liquid is extracted.
  4. Decant into a clean glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid.
  5. Save the pulp – use in bread, muffins, granola or pancakes.


Storage
In the fridge in a glass bottle: up to about 1 week.
Shake before use – natural separation is normal.

Care
Rinse the bag thoroughly on both sides straight after use.
Machine wash up to 40°C with mild detergent; no fabric softener.
Air dry; up to 5% shrinkage may occur.
