Side 1 has a core of organic coir and is the firm side. It gives a firm, supportive surface with plenty of airflow, as recommended for the early months. Side 2 has a core of perforated natural latex and is softer and more yielding, giving a good balance of support and comfort once your child is bigger. Simply turn the mattress over when your child is ready for the softer side.

The coir fibres come from coconut production. They are washed, softened and then twisted into ropes that shape the fibres into small springs. Because the fibres are large and coarse, the layer is full of air channels running through it, so air can circulate and heat and moisture can escape from the body.

The core is divided into 7 zones with different firmness along the length of the mattress. A zoned core is designed so heavier parts of the body, such as shoulders and hips, can sink in a little more while the rest of the body is supported, helping the spine lie straighter.
