Why kapok?

Natural latex from the rubber tree
Natural latex is the sap of the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis). The sap is tapped from the tree and processed into an elastic foam that gives under the pressure of the body and moulds to it. In the mattress core, this provides soft yet supportive comfort, and the open structure of the foam lets air pass through.

GOLS certified
The latex in the core is certified to GOLS (Global Organic Latex Standard). The certification requires at least 95% of the latex to be organic, and it covers the whole journey from plantation to finished latex core.

Coir that springs and breathes
The coir fibres come from coconut production. They are washed, softened and then twisted into ropes that shape the fibres into small springs. Because the fibres are large and coarse, the layer is full of air channels running through it, so air can circulate and heat and moisture can escape from the body.

Quilted cover with wool
The core is surrounded by a quilted cover of organic New Zealand wool and GOTS-certified organic cotton. The wool is breathable and temperature-regulating, and the mattress is handmade from start to finish in Sri Lanka.
