The bed edge can be washed in a washing machine if it becomes necessary.

• Wash preferably at 40 degrees to protect the fibre. However, 60 degrees is possible if necessary.
• Choose a short washing program, as the kapok cannot stand being wet for too long
• Choose centrifugation at 1200 revolutions to get as much water as possible out of the kapok
• Use a gentle detergent without enzymes or bleach. For example, Cocoon's soap berry or a fine detergent with or without probiotics
• Do not use fabric softener
• Dry the kapok product immediately after wash

• The kapok product is dried in the tumble dryer alone
• Give yourself plenty of time. We recommend using dryer balls in wool to reduce drying time. They also ensure that the fibers are gently separated
• Do not use tennis balls as they break the fiber
• Choose a 30 minute program with medium heat. Look at the kapok product and repeat until it is slightly damp
• Let the kapok product dry in a warm place until the rest of the moisture is gone.

The kapok fibre is a thin-walled, hollow tube filled with up to 80% air. That makes it extremely light – only about an eighth of the weight of cotton – and breathable at the same time. The fibre has a natural waxy coating that makes it water-repellent, so it does not soak up moisture. Side 1 has a core of organic coir and is the firm side. It gives a firm, supportive surface with plenty of airflow, as recommended for the early months. Side 2 has a core of perforated natural latex and is softer and more yielding, giving a good balance of support and comfort once your child is bigger. Simply turn the mattress over when your child is ready for the softer side.
