• Wash preferably at 40 degrees to protect the fiber. However, 60 degrees is possible if necessary.
• Choose a short washing program, as the kapok cannot stand being wet for too long

• Use a gentle detergent without enzymes or bleach. For example Cocoon's soap berry or a delicate detergent with or without probiotics
• Do not use fabric softener
• Dry the kapok pad immediately after wash

Kapok summer duvet

Kapok summer duvet is approx. half as much filling as a regular kapok duvet and is therefore very suitable for a hot summer or for those who just feel extra warm at night. The half amount of filling also means that it is not as robust as the year-round duvet, understood in the sense that the filling will tangle more easily during use. However, it can clump together a little and if that happens, we have good experience of giving the pillow a trip in the dryer on medium heat for approx. half an hour together with dryer balls (preferably wool) as this will loosen the fibers again.

But if it is necessary to wash your kapok pillow, you do it like this:

• Wash preferably at 40 degrees to protect the fiber. However, 60 degrees is possible if necessary.
• Choose a short washing program, as the kapok cannot stand being wet for too long
• Choose centrifugation at 1200 revolutions to get as much water as possible out of the kapok
• Use a gentle detergent without enzymes or bleach. For example Cocoon's soap berry or a delicate detergent with or without probiotics

Many mistakenly think that a wool duvet is far too warm for use in summer, but the opposite is true. Wool regulates instead of insulating like e.g. down duvet.

The wool still contains its natural lanolin, which enables it to absorb the moisture from the body - without the down becoming damp itself. The corn fiber is, technically, a plant-based biopolymer fiber based on lactic acid, which is extracted from plant sugar from corn in a kind of fermentation process.

In fact, the production of the corn fiber requires 68% less fossil fuels than the production of a synthetic fiber duvet.

Maintenance of your maize duvet

You do not need to wash your maize duvet before use. No harmful chemicals have been added in the manufacturing process.

But your maize duvet can easily be washed. However, we recommend that you only do it when necessary, as washing wears out the product and the fibre.

So please air your duvet regularly. Especially frosty weather is good for airing the duvet.

If the duvet is to be washed, it can be washed at 60 degrees, but preferably lower, so that you protect the fine corn fiber and take a little extra care of the environment.

Make sure to run the wash at low revolutions - again to take good care of the fine corn fiber so that it does not tangle. However, should this happen, you can easily filter out the fibers again.

Dry the duvet in a tumble dryer at medium heat. Very happy with these drying balls, which reduce the drying time by approx. 25%.
