The large, tightly woven nut milk bag in sturdy cotton withstands frequent use. The fine mesh filters efficiently, ideal for nut/plant milks, fruit and vegetable juices – and it can double as a sprouting bag.
You’ll need:
- 80-100 g nuts or rolled oats
- TIP: Lightly toast the nuts first for extra flavor
- 1 litre cold water
- Optional: vanilla, a few dates or another sweetener
Method
- Add water and ingredients to a blender; blend until smooth.
- Place the nut milk bag over a bowl/jug and pour in the mixture in batches.
- Gently squeeze the bag until the liquid is extracted.
- Decant into a clean glass bottle with a tight-fitting lid.
- Save the pulp – use in bread, muffins, granola or pancakes.
Storage
In the fridge in a glass bottle: up to about 1 week.
Shake before use – natural separation is normal.
Care
Rinse the bag thoroughly on both sides straight after use.
Hand wash in warm water (50-60°C) with a drop of dish soap and rinse thoroughly with warm water. If necessary, soak the bag in a mixture of warm water, white vinegar (1:5 ratio), and 1 teaspoon of baking soda for 20 minutes, then rinse well with warm water.
Air dry; up to 5% shrinkage may occur.
