Description

A light, cool double duvet
A light duvet is pleasant to sleep under, especially if you tend to sleep warm. This 200x220 cm duvet from Kapook is filled with kapok and has a cover of OEKO-TEX certified cotton.

Kapok is a light, airy natural fibre from the seed pods of the kapok tree. The fibre is water-repellent, which makes it excellent at drawing moisture and heat away from the body instead of letting it build up in the duvet, so you neither get too warm nor cold and clammy during the night.

Kapok fibre is also naturally antimicrobial thanks to its high lignin content, which means it naturally repels things like house dust mites.

Kapok duvet - double duvet

Organic double duvet in the most lovely and temperature-regulating kapok.

Kapok is also called silk cotton because the incredibly soft fiber. Kapok is the world's smallest natural fiber. And kapok is a temperature-regulating material that makes it incredibly good at transporting moisture away from the body during the night. The temperature-regulating effect makes it super suitable all year round.

A kapok duvet is therefore also very suitable if you find it difficult to keep warm at night - or perhaps find it difficult to get rid of the heat again.

The kapok fiber is also antibacterial, so you don't get house dust mites visiting when you lie down and sleep.

Under this double duvet there can be two persons.

The double duvet is filled with untreated organic kapok, with a spring of 100% organically certified cotton.

The duvet measures 200x200 cm.

Please note that the kapok duvet feels a little different from a normal down duvet. It is slightly heavier and initially resembles a cotton blanket. But the fiber shrinks over time, so it is stopped up well at the start so that it does not become too flat over time.

Maintenance of your kapok duvet

Kapok is a natural fiber with quite unique properties.

And they are definitely worth taking good care of.

As a general rule, you should only wash your kapok duvet if it is strict necessary.
The kapok fibers can be damaged by washing and clump together, so we therefore advise against washing, unless the duvet cannot be used without it.
For normal use, it is sufficient to simply air the duvet.

If the stains are smaller, we recommend spot washing.

But if it is necessary to wash your kapok duvet, then do it like this:

How to wash your kapok duvet
  • Wash preferably at 40 degrees to protect the fibre. However, 60 degrees is possible if necessary.
  • Choose a short washing program, as the kapok cannot stand being wet for too long
  • Choose centrifugation at 1200 revolutions to get as much water as possible out of the kapok
  • Use a gentle detergent without enzymes or bleach. For example Cocoon's soap berry or a delicate detergent with or without probiotics
  • Do not use fabric softener
  • Dry the kapok duvet immediately after washing

How to dry your kapok duvet
  • Kapok duvets are dried alone in the dryer
  • Give yourself plenty of time. We recommend using dryer balls in wool to reduce drying time. They also ensure that the fibers are gently separated
  • Do not use tennis balls as they break the fiber
  • Choose a 30 minute program with medium heat. Look at the kapok pillow and repeat until it is slightly damp.
  • Let the kapok duvet dry in a warm place until the rest of the moisture is gone.
  • Be careful not to dry too long in the dryer, as this can reduce the life of the fiber.

Kapook Kapok Double Duvet - 240x220 cm

Kapook Kapok Double Duvet - 240x220 cm

Kapook

KBD-240220

Extra airy at first
When the double duvet is new, the kapok fibre is completely fresh and airy, so the duvet will feel extra full at first. As the duvet is used, the fibre settles and the duvet becomes flatter.

Kapok – a light natural fibre
Kapok comes from the seed pods of the kapok tree. The pods are picked and emptied, the fibre is dried in the sun, and the seeds are removed. The fibre is then blown through a wind tunnel, where the finest fibres are separated out and used to fill duvets and pillows. The fibre is hollow and made up of around 80% air, and a thin natural wax coating on the surface makes it water-repellent.

Washing and care
We recommend washing the duvet as little as possible, and only when necessary. Instead, air it regularly or freshen it up with byoms' odour remover with probiotics, so it does not need washing. The more often a natural product is washed, the more wear it takes.

If an accident happens and the duvet needs washing, wash it at 40 degrees with an enzyme-free detergent and no fabric softener. Use a programme with a high spin, and do not leave the duvet sitting wet.

Put the duvet in the tumble dryer on medium heat straight after washing, and if needed dry it in several short rounds until it is completely dry. Take the duvet out between rounds and let it steam off a little before it goes back in. Pull apart any small clumps of fibre along the way.

Please note: Only machine wash the duvet if the drum is large enough for the duvet to move freely. When the duvet is washed, it will hold a lot of water, and the amount of water can affect the machine's ability to wash and spin the duvet.
