We are very happy to have found RAPS RAPS as a supplier of a far more proven alternative to candles. Namely rapeseed. RAPS RAPS is a young Danish company from Copenhagen. You don't have to go much further than just behind your own hedge and Denmark's borders to greet exactly the nature that the candles from RAPS RAPS are made of. Raps Raps candles are made of 100% rape wax, which comes from the rape plants in the summer yellow fields that you see light up every summer in Denmark and Europe. This means that the candles come from an existing production that does not take land from the rainforest, and the product is harvested quite close to where the candles are lit. Rapeseed wax is also a vegetable wax, and therefore does not contain the same problematic particles as traditional candles, which we unfortunately inhale indoors when we are cozying up in the dark months. And in the Nordic countries we love cozying up indoors in the glow of candles so much that in Denmark we have the world record.
Did you know that the candles we light most often - i.e. candles and paraffin candles - originate from the oil industry? And oil, as you know, is a non-renewable resource.
