Steam insert in stainless steel

When vegetables are raw, they are in a form where you cannot easily access all the nutrients. When the vegetables are cooked, their cell walls are broken down. In this way, the nutrients are released so that the body can absorb them more easily.

However, this does not mean that you should just throw your vegetables into a pot of boiling water and let them cook half way through. Because when you cook them that way, a lot of good nutrients escape from the vegetables and into the water. Therefore, you can advantageously steam your vegetables instead. It preserves both taste and nutrition in the vegetables.
