What properties does organic wool yarn have?
Eco wool yarn is not treated with anything. It is wool yarn in its purest form.
Today, a great deal of wool yarn and wool clothing is superwash treated, which is a chemical treatment of the wool that ensures that it no longer scratches and that it can withstand many trips in the washing machine.
But the superwash treatment unfortunately also removes a great many of the wool's special properties.
Organic wool yarn is:
- Insulating against both heat and cold
- Temperature regulating
- Water repellent
- Dirt repellent
- Antibacterial and should not be washed too much
