The softest silk pillow from Cocoon Company
If you are looking for a cooling pillow without flame retardants, formaldehyde and other off-gassing substances, then a pillow in silk and kapok from Danish Cocoon Company is a really good offer.
It is a soft and really comfortable pillow that is handmade from start to finish and is a completely natural and chemical-free alternative.
The pillow consists of of 50% Mulberry Peace Silk and 50% kapok. Both fibers are super fine and soft and the pillow is incredibly comfortable to lie on.
Normally, silk pillows are quite thin, as the fiber is very thin and lies close. That's why 50% kapok has been added, which gives the pillow more volume.
A breathable and cooling pillow
This organic pillow consists of 3 natural materials: Mulberry Peace Silk, kapok and organic cotton.
Silk is known for its completely unique absorbency, which makes it easier for moisture to be transported through the pillow. It responds quickly to changing temperatures and therefore creates a temperature-regulating effect around the body.
The silk is mixed with kapok to give the pillow more volume. Kapok is also a temperature-regulating fiber. So the two play super well together.
And then the pillow is surrounded by a cover of organic cotton on the outside.
So this natural latex pillow consists of 3 completely natural and organic materials that you can sleep with completely safely without worrying about problematic off-gassing substances.
The pillow measures 60 x 63 cm.
Silk pillow by Peace Silk - this is how it is produced den
Do you know how traditional silk is produced?
It was incredibly surprising to us, but nevertheless true.
Silk is made from the pupa of the silkworm. Normally, the silkworm will pupate and transform into a silk butterfly within two weeks. But silkworms rarely get this far in traditional silk production. They are boiled alive to preserve the pupa whole, so that the silk fiber is as long as possible. And it is a relentless process.
Cocoon's silk duvet made of Peace Silk, however, does away with this inhumane production method, so that the silkworm can continue its development and end up as a butterfly. In the production of Peace Silk, the larvae are first and foremost given no growth hormones, but are fed exclusively with organic mulberry leaves. They therefore do not get nearly as big as conventional silkworms and pupae.
When the silkworms have pupated, the pupa is carefully cut open and the silkworm is allowed to develop completely among mulberry leaves. When the silkworm finally hatches as summer moisture, it will move out to find a mate in the wild again.
By purchasing a Peace Silk duvet, you have actually spared approx. 6,500 silk butterflies from dying.
Maintenance of your silk pillow
You can accidentally stain the pillow.
