Kapok is a rather brilliant natural fiber that grows wild in India.
For centuries it has been used for filling in mattresses, duvets, pillows, teddy bears, etc.
However, when polyester gained popularity, the synthetic filling has gradually replaced kapok in many products.
But luckily, Cocoon does something about it.
Because they develop a sea of products in kapok. The kapok fiber has so much to offer.
Kapok is both temperature-regulating, insulating and completely natural.
The kapok fiber is unsprayed and completely free of chemicals.
This bed edge is filled with organic and untreated kapok covered with 100% organically certified cotton
The bed edge creates security for the small child and protects the bed's edges.
The bed edge measures 28 x 180 cm.
It fits a baby bed of 60 x 120 cm.
If you want the bed edge to cover all sides, you need 2 pieces.
Maintenance of your kapok bed edge
The bed edge can be washed in a washing machine if it becomes necessary.
How to wash your kapok product- Wash preferably at 40 degrees to protect the fibre. However, 60 degrees is possible if necessary.
- Choose a short washing program, as the kapok cannot stand being wet for too long
- Choose centrifugation at 1200 revolutions to get as much water as possible out of the kapok
- Use a gentle detergent without enzymes or bleach. For example, Cocoon's soap berry or a fine detergent with or without probiotics
- Do not use fabric softener
- Dry the kapok product immediately after wash
How to dry your kapok product
- The kapok product is dried in the tumble dryer alone
- Give yourself plenty of time. We recommend using dryer balls in wool to reduce drying time. They also ensure that the fibers are gently separated
- Do not use tennis balls as they break the fiber
- Choose a 30 minute program with medium heat. Look at the kapok product and repeat until it is slightly damp
- Let the kapok product dry in a warm place until the rest of the moisture is gone.
- Be careful not to dry too long in the dryer, as it can reduce the life of the fiber.
