What does sunscreen do?
Suncream protects the skin against harmful UV rays from the sun. It is especially UVA and UVB rays that can cause sunburn, premature aging of the skin and, in the worst case, skin cancer. UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburns, while UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin and can damage the cells in the long term. A good sunscreen protects against both, and it is important to choose a sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection.
How much sunscreen should you use?
Most people use far too little sunscreen. A rule of thumb is that an adult should use approximately a whole handful of sunscreen for the body – corresponding to about 40 ml. For the face alone, an amount of approx. a teaspoon appropriate. Also remember that the sunscreen must be reapplied after bathing, when sweating or after a few hours in the sun. Is sunscreen good for the skin?
Sunscreen protects the skin against sun damage, pigment changes and premature ageing.
