Packaging - Økofamily

It is easy and fast to shop online. And we do what we can to ensure that the packaging does not spoil more than absolutely necessary.

Because we think a lot about everything we do in everyday life here at biks. That's why we recycle everything we can.

Corn filling

For glasses and liquid liquids, which need extra care, we use corn filling.

It looks like storypor, but is actually just corn chips that you can dissolve in water when you get it or put it directly in the compost.

BUT if you have children, then you can also use them as fun entertainment.
If they are moistened a little with a cloth, they can be put together and made into small animals, flowers or whatever you can think of.

Then they can be painted with watercolors or tusses above.

Cardboard from the shredder

To fill up the last of the boxes with, we also use filling from frayed cardboard.
We often receive goods in very large boxes that we cannot use again. But so that they don't go to waste, we flake them up in a cardboard shredder and then use them for filling.
And that way we have virtually no waste.

The circular packaging

Do you know RE-ZIP?
It is the packaging that circulates and that can be used again and again.

It costs DKK 15. And then you are supposed to return it to RE-ZIP. You will find the nearest return point in the RE-ZIP app.
As a thank you, you will receive a discount code for our shop, which you can use the next time you shop.

Then RE-ZIP will return it, clean it of adhesive etc. and forwards it to us. And that way the packaging is constantly in circulation.

And maybe you think that it really can't be good for the climate with all that transport. But actually it is far better than us buying a new cardboard box. Because the production of a new cardboard box, the transport of it both as raw material and as a finished product and with everything that goes into producing it, is far more damaging to the climate than the return of your RE-ZIP.

Disposable products are generally never a good solution – not even when it comes to packaging. In fact, RE-ZIP packaging reduces the CO2 footprint by up to 80%

Reuse of cardboard boxes and other things

And finally, of course, there is also the reuse of all the cardboard boxes in which we receive goods. They also come in small versions. We use them again so that they can have a slightly longer life. In addition, we also get lots of cardboard boxes from family, friends and customers who come by. Most people know that we are grateful for all the boxes we can get.

When we use them, we stamp with the ‘I am ugly’ stamp. In the hope of understanding that they will be used again. Fortunately, we always get the understanding.

After all, we get a lot of goods delivered here and sometimes they are packed in e.g. bubble wrap. Instead of just driving it to the recycling site, we have chosen to recycle it as well. In our eyes, it makes good sense to recycle when it has now been produced. But we do not buy it ourselves and will always make you aware that it is recycled plastic that is in that case in your package. Perhaps you can also use it to wrap in and that way, if nothing else, we can make sure that it was not produced in vain. It is also sustainability.

We also prioritize buying used when we buy something for the warehouse or the office. Because there is so much good out there in really good quality. So all our office furniture, computers, storage racks etc. we have bought used.

And then we support some good green causes. For example we support Denmark's nature conservation association every single month and have done so since we started.

No one can do everything – but everyone can do something.
