Homemade Body Butter

Homemade Body Butter

Make your own Body Butter

Homemade cream is an absolutely fantastic activity that I value as much as cooking at home:-)
Because it is quite simple to do your skin care yourself, and you also have full control over what goes into your skin care products.

Here at the shop you will find a whole lot of ingredients to make your own skin care.
And today I want to show and explain how simple it is to make your own Body Butter.

What is Body Butter?

A Body Butter is a powerful moisturizing cream for your skin. Body Butter suits us extremely well who live here in the cold north, because our skin dries out quite extremely – especially in the cold winter months.

And if you use a body lotion whose main ingredient is water, you often do not add enough fat to the skin so that it can maintain its elasticity and avoid drying out.
A Body Butter, on the other hand, is packed full of good and healthy fats that penetrate your skin and ensure that it can withstand the cold or temperature differences.
I use my Body Butter all over my body and especially on my hands during the cold winter months.

Recipe for homemade Body Butter

But how do you do that?
You acquire the ingredients that you want to fill your Body Butter. My recipe reads like this:

You can vary the different butter products as you see fit.
You don't need all 3 different kinds. However, I do not think that shea butter can be completely dispensed with.
And the ratio between the butter products and the slightly more liquid oils should also preferably be maintained roughly.
You can omit the cocoa butter if you don't like the smell of it that much (it smells a bit chocolatey).

However, I am really happy with the combination of the three butter products here – it is the favorite at home.

You can easily halve this recipe for a smaller portion.

DIY Body Butter

Start by melting the solid butter products in a water bath. Make sure to melt slowly and take the bowl off the heat just before the last part has melted completely. It will melt together in the afterheat.

It is really important to keep the temperatures as low as possible so that all the good vitamins are retained.

As soon as you have finished melting, jojoba, almond or olive oil is mixed with the remaining ingredients and the entire molevit is refrigerated.

Take the bowl out of the fridge after approx. 3 hours and whip up all ingredients for approx. 5 minutes – or until the product has become a bit like whipped cream.

And Voila! Body Butter Done!

Now it just needs to be filled into glasses. Use either a spatula or a piping bag.

Keep your Body Butter cool. It can melt if it gets much warmer than 23-25 degrees. Durability is approx. half a year. It will go rancid when it is no longer good, so that way you can also sense when it is over, if you don't use it all up before then.

Really good fun.
