A metal lunch box is brilliant
This exact area has always been my absolute 1st priority when it comes to investing in chemical-free products. Chemical free food storage is really important to me. And lunch boxes of course involve food storage - and then that involves my kids. So from day 1 I have had "unusual" lunch boxes and drinking bottles for myself and my children. They stand out from the amount of plastic in the nursery and the kindergarten's fridge, but that doesn't matter at all.
Because I'm not a fan of plastic. In fact, apart from lids for my glass storage bowls, there is no other plastic in my kitchen other than that which is part of some kind of kitchen appliance. Plastic to me is a very unnatural product that I actually don't really trust - BPA free or not. It breaks easily and by the way it also fills our world with a whole lot of artificial waste. Did you know, for example, that if you give your child food in a freezer bag every day, you use approx. 1 kg. plastic in one year. And that's only for one lunchbox per day.
A steel lunchbox is the sensible choice
A steel lunchbox has always been my first choice. It's a 100% pure product - and it's a "cradle to grave" product, i.e. a product that should be able to stay with you for the rest of your life - if you treat it properly.
Decorate your stainless steel lunch box
If you have a child who just has to have a lunch box with Paw Patrol or Frost, buy some nice stickers and let the child decorate their own stainless steel lunch box so it's just the way they want it den.
