Natural and environmentally friendly soap berries for washing clothes, dishes, shampoo and cleaning. Soap nuts or soap berries are for you who want to avoid dyes and unnatural chemicals in clothes, cleaning, hair and the like.
Soap berries with saponin
Wash nuts are actually a bit misleading, as it is not the nuts that are used as soap. Rather, it is the berries that are found inside the nuts (nut allergy sufferers therefore need not fear reactions when using them). The berries are taken from the nuts that grow on the Sapindus Mukorosse tree, and they contain the substance saponin. This is released when the soap berries are washed in water that is 30 degrees or more. In the water, the saponin is effectively released as soap, and it is therefore particularly popular as a detergent. However, it can be used for an infinite number of purposes in the home, you just have to dissolve the soap berries and make them into liquid soap.
It has never been so easy to replace your unnatural chemicals. How to use laundry nuts:
- Add 4-5 berries to your wash (just throw them in the machine)
- Boil 10 carob nuts in 1 liter of water to make liquid soap read a lot more here
- The nuts can be reused until they become dried out and hard
At Økofamily we recommend using carob nuts for washing at 30 degrees as well as 40 degree washing if the clothes are not very dirty. Facts about washing nuts
There really aren't any good reasons not to use washing nuts. Here is a brief overview of the many benefits that come with using soapberry:
- Natural product that is good for the environment and your skin
- Price-friendly alternative 1 kg. is enough for one year's washing in a normal large family (approx. 350 pieces and 250 washes, which corresponds to approx. DKK 0.70 per wash)
- You avoid plastic packaging (supplied in a sustainable bag)
Additionally, you don't have to worry about little people putting the washcloths in their mouths because they are completely free of toxic substances.
