As you may have already guessed, ecology and sustainability are topics that are very close to my heart. All the suppliers that we have selected for the Eco Family have been chosen because they also prioritize ecology and/or sustainability. And they are chosen because they can guarantee that the products have been treated properly – right from the sheep that have supplied wool to our wool products and to the beeswax colors that must be used and perhaps put in the mouths of very young children.
But a completely ordinary webshop is definitely not sustainable. Ours is as much as it gets. And we are constantly working with it and fine-tuning all the processes that are part of running a business.
As you may have also noticed, we are not fans of plastic, so that material does not exist in our shipping packaging. Because packaging naturally takes up a lot when you, like us, have to send out a whole lot of beautiful goods to our good customers. And fortunately there are alternatives to the many plastic bags for shipping. We use biodegradable and recyclable cardboard and paper, paper tape that can be reused together with the cardboard box, and we use packaging fillers made from corn. The package filling can in principle be eaten. However, it is not handled as a food, so I would not recommend you to do that, but you can put them in the compost pile, because it is 100% biodegradable and without any kind of plastic and chemicals.
But there are also other things that we can do to get as much out of the resources we have. We recycle all the packaging that we can and then we make sure to pack with as little packaging as is possible and safe.
We send your order confirmation electronically – i.e. it is not in your package. It saves the environment from extra unnecessary paper and you also always know where you have it.
We do not put business cards, advertisements or other unnecessary stuffing in your package and we prioritize communicating and advertising digitally as much as possible.
